11 of our swimmers attended the West District Pre-Snags meet on 29th Feb and 1st March. As the amount of scratches for all clubs indicate, this can be a difficult meet to get into as all the best swimmers in the district chase those elusive SNAGS qualification and consideration times.

Our swimmers managed to secure 20 Long Course PB’s or new times from 32 legal swims, with the honour of biggest PB during the meet going to Adam Thomson in the 200m Free with a 17.43 second drop on his old time winning him the Gold Medal.

David Rowan dipped under 30s for his 50m Butterfly, not to be outdone our other Club Captain Sophie posted PB’s in three out of her four swims as did Murray McGhee, while Callum Darbyshire returned to competitive action following his injury at the end of last year to post PB’s in both his events. Emma Johnson posted the most PB’s for the club during the meet with 5 out of 6 swims.

Kathryn White and Aimee Richmond both took on the punishing 400m IM for the first time in a long course pool and both delivered excellent benchmark times.

In the Boys 11-13 50m Freestyle we had 3 out of the top six swimmers, a phenomenal achievement for a club of our size, with Adam grabbing the Bronze Medal, while Evan and Sam dipped below 30s for the first time in a Long Course Pool. Adam then also secured the Bronze Medal in the 100m Freestyle.

Evan continued his good run of swims in the Backstroke events to win the Gold Medal in the 200m, as well as the Bronze in the 50m.

Adam, Evan and Sam also improved on some of their SNAGS qualification/consideration times and with the qualification window now closed have done all they can to get to Aberdeen at the beginning of April.
