North Ayrshire 200 Meet Report

The club took the short trip along the A71 at the weekend to enjoy the hospitality of our neighbours North Ayrshire Swimming during their annual 200 Meet. This is always a demanding meet for the swimmers with only the longer distance events available to swim. Our swimmers met the challenge head on though, recording a very impressive 27 PB’s from 30 legal swims. Unfortunately there were a few DQ’s along the way but we are pleased to report than none of the these came from our two newly qualified judges, Karen Thomson or Isabelle Watson, who both passed their judges assessment during the meet.

PB’s were attained by Daniel, Evan, Suzannah, Gage, Tia, Rowan, Jack, Anna, Murray, Sophie, Jake, Aimee, Adam and Kathryn. With the honour of the biggest PB on the day falling to Anna with a whopping 129.27s off her 200m free!!!

Emma Kavanagh took home the bronze medal in the girls 200m breaststroke with Evan getting the gold for the 200m Backstroke and bronze in the 200m Freestyle. Adam managed to take home gold medals in the 200m Breaststroke, 200m IM and 200m Freestyle and also a silver in the 200m Backstroke.

To top off a wonderful weekend of swimming Adam was then awarded the Best Boy Trophy in his Age Group.

All in all a very successful meet for the club, to those that suffered DQ’s remember that it is all a learning process and the important thing is to work hard in training to correct the error, so that you can smash it the next time you race.

The full set of KASC results are now available in the members section.

West of Scotland SDS Regional Championships

Two of our swimmers, Kathryn White and Callum Bain, took part in the West of Scotland SDS Regional Championships on Saturday 15th Feb. Kathryn carried on from where she left off at the Junior National Championships in November to win another 5 gold medals in the 100m IM, 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly with new PB’s secured during 4 of those swims.

Not to be outdone Callum took home 2 golds of his own in his 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke along with two silvers in 75m IM and 50m Freestyle.

Very well done to both swimmers, you continue to make the club extremely proud with both your swimming and your enthusiasm for the sport.
